Liverpool huffed and puffed but got the all-important three points against Tottenham yesterday to go back ahead of Manchester City atop the Premier League table.
Andy Robertson’s fantastic cross laid on Roberto Firmino to open the scoring early on and against a visiting Spurs side who may have been low on confidence after an awful recent run, that could have been enough to force the floodgates open.
But that did not prove to be the case. Mauricio Pochettino’s touchline ban allowed him an improved view of proceedings and used it to alter the course of the match in the second half.
The tide turned back Tottenham’s way and Lucas Moura’s equaliser, after smart work from Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier and Christian Eriksen was no more than they deserved.

Just as Liverpool looked to be drifting towards a draw that really would have handed City the initiative ahead of their midweek clash with Cardiff, Toby Alderweireld contrived to put through his own net via an abject mistake from Hugo Lloris and within a flash, all three points were Liverpool’s.
Reds fans on Twitter reacted jubilantly, as expected, and were full of praise for Robertson’s performance on an afternoon where he showcased his traditional speed and energy.
