Jordan Henderson has not always been the most popular player among Liverpool fans, especially in games which require guile to break down deep defences.
But nobody can doubt his passion for the game or his ability to get every last drop out of his quality and that’s exactly what he did against Manchester City yesterday.
Third choice left back Angelino looked a weak link before kick off and so it proved, as he was unable to deal with Mo Salah’s darting runs inside or Henderson backing him up.
The England vice-captain was free to bomb on and overwhelm Angelino, who looked blown away by the intensity and relentlessness of the running.

And he topped it off with a sumptuous cross which allowed Sadio Mane to make it 3-0, all but putting the game beyond the reigning champions within minutes of the second half starting.
Liverpool dropped off noticeably when he was replaced by James Milner and that was something acknowledged by some fans on Twitter, who were keen to praise his performance.
He produced a real captain’s display on an afternoon where Liverpool took a huge step towards clinching their first Premier League title, and the supporters paid tribute online.
