Jordan Henderson changed the game when he came on from the bench against Southampton – and many Liverpool fans hailed him for his performance.
Jurgen Klopp’s team continued their bid for the Premier League title by coming from behind to win 3-1 at Mary’s, which moved them back to the top of the table temporarily above rivals Manchester City.
After a goal each during the first-half, the Reds introduced captain Henderson from the bench and he played a key role in getting three points.
The 28-year-old scored one and assisted another in the closing stages to spark wild celebrations from away fans.
He is a central midfielder not renowned for his attacking ability, but was given a licence to drive forward and he was a major threat for his team.
A selection of Liverpool fans were delighted to see Henderson make the impact he did, as quite often he can be a scapegoat at Anfield.
The England international netted his first goal of the season at a crucial time and proved that he’s a vital senior player within the group.
He timed his run well into the penalty area to tap in a simple third Liverpool goal and that will have helped his confidence really.

Finally Klopp plays Henderson at no.8 position and reaps the reward. His biggest asset is his energy, and that’s the position where he can effect the game from. It was much needed especially after seeing how slow we pass the ball. #lfc #SOULIV #YNWA
