Liverpool fans have lavished praise on midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, after a very impressive statistic emerged.

The Reds won 3-0 against Leicester City last night to go second in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

Three points against the Foxes meant Liverpool have now gone 64 games unbeaten at Anfield, which is just one eyebrow-raising statistic to come out of last night’s game.

Remarkably, yesterday’s win was Dutchman Wijnaldum’s 133rd in his first 200 competitive games – no player has managed more wins in the same period (via LFC Data).

He’s ahead of Alan Kennedy (131), Gary Gillespie (126), Steve McMahon (123), Ian Rush (122), Craig Johnson (120) and John Barnes (120).

Wijnaldum has proven to be an amazing signing since arriving at the club from Newcastle United in a £25 million deal in the summer of 2016 (BBC Sport).

The star has been a vital player for the Reds, making significant contributions to the club winning the Premier League title last term and, especially, the Champions League in 2019.

He is evidently at the very forefront of the winning mentality at Liverpool these days, and has undoubtedly made a big difference to the team since joining.

Fans on social media were hugely impressed with Wijnaldum’s statistic, with some taking the opportunity to express their desire to see the star – out of contract next year – stay at the club for longer:
