Liverpool fans hail Fabinho the ‘next Xabi Alonso’ after Wolves win

Fabinho endured a difficult start to life at Anfield following his summer arrival from Monaco, but that has quickly been forgotten about now at Liverpool.

After a slow start where he couldn’t force his way into the starting XI, the Brazilian midfielder is now a regular in the team and proved his importance once again on Friday night.

The Reds ensured they will be top of the Premier League at Christmas with a 2-0 victory away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal in the first-half with an exquisite glance with the outside of the boot and Fabinho picked up the assist for his cross into the penalty area.

Defender Virgil Van Dijk then added another in the second-half and completed a professional performance.

The Merseyside club host Newcastle United at Anfield on Boxing Day in their next game and showed they are serous title contenders after maintaining their unbeaten run away at Wolves.

Fabinho was one of the standout performers for the visitors despite a couple of shaky moments against high intensity opposition.

The 25-year-old largely kept control of possession and showed off his range of passing, with the winning goal an example of that.

He is also a defensive midfielder that helps protect the back four and now seems to have found his feet in English football.

Some Liverpool fans on Twitter were blown away by his latest performance and feel he’s making a real difference to the side, with one even comparing his passing to the club’s ex-midfielder Xabi Alonso.
