Curtis Jones scored for England’s Under-21s side on Wednesday – and some Liverpool fans on Twitter were blown away by the performance of their talented midfielder.
Despite beating Croatia 2-1, Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions bowed out of the European Under-21s Championship after losing their opening two group matches.
Jones certainly had an eventful evening.
The 20-year-old was selected in the starting XI against Croatia after coming off the bench in the previous two games, something which seemed baffling to most.
He’s a regular first-team player at Anfield with Liverpool, but was somewhat overlooked by Boothroyd.
The central midfielder, who operated in an unfamiliar wide right position, got himself on the scoresheet with a low finish into the bottom corner.
Unfortunately, he was shown a red card after the full-time whistle though for an altercation with the opposition players.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media believe that Jones was excellent in midweek.
It’s been a difficult campaign for the Reds with the way they’ve suffered in the Premier League, but the academy graduate has been one of the shining lights.
Not only does he look like being a key player in the future, but he’s got the talent to make a difference in Jurgen Klopp’s side right now, which is why he’s made 30 appearances across all competitions this season.
