Liverpool fans give same response to Georginio Wijnaldum after his comments

Georginio Wijnaldum has spoken about the influence of manager Jurgen Klopp on him – and some Liverpool fans on Twitter have responded by insisting that he signs a new contract at Anfield.

The Dutch midfielder has been with the Reds since 2016 when he joined from Newcastle United and he’s developed into a key player during the Klopp era.

He’s scored five goals in 38 games across all competitions this campaign and often pops up with big goals, but it’s his industrious work in the centre of the park that makes him standout.

The 29-year-old is a box-to-box central midfielder that covers so much ground every game for his team and is precise in possession.

Wijnaldum has been discussing the impact of Liverpool manager Klopp on him.

“My development since I came to Liverpool has been good. I have become more of an all-round player,” Wijnaldum told the club’s official website.

“The manager has had a big influence on me. He has brought the club back to where it used to be and he brought his vision to the club, and I have to say his vision fits the club.

“We have a really good player-coach relationship, as well as on a personal level. He is an important person to me in general.”

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media recognise Wijnaldum as a massive star for them and are worried about his future.

The midfielder’s current contract at Anfield expires in the summer of 2021 and there are plenty who are desperate to see him commit his future for the long-term.

He played a key role in the club winning the Champions League in the 2018/19 campaign and this season has helped the club get to the verge of Premier League champions, but the current suspension to football has temporarily put that on hold.
