Takumi Minamino has explained his frustration about still getting to grips with the playing style at Liverpool – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded to offer their support.
The 25-year-old completed a move to Anfield back in January from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg and joined after majorly impressing against the Reds in this season’s Champions League group stage.
He’s had a slow start to life on Merseyside so far, with no goals or no assists in his six appearances so far.
But the Japan international managed nine goals and 11 assists in the first half of the season with Salzburg, so there is clearly plenty of quality and he’s just taking time to adapt.
Minamino has explained that he wants to do much more for Jurgen Klopp’s team moving forward.
“I would love to contribute more to goals and assists – I’m feeling very hungry about that,” Minamino said, as quoted by the club’s official website
“I think I’m still [learning] to fully understand the team, but I still hate to wait. In order to make an instant impact and make a contribution to the team, I’m doing my best every day.

A selection of Reds supporters on social media have given some words of encouragement towards their January addition and believe he can come good.
Minamino has mainly been used in a false nine position since his arrival, but most of his success at Salzburg came from either the wing or attacking midfield positions.
It’s understandable that he’s made a slow start arriving mid-season during a year where the team are settled and storming towards the Premier League title.
He may be somebody that really comes into his own next year and in the meantime he needs to keep working under Klopp to get up to full speed.
