Liverpool fans full of praise for Chelsea midfielder, as two sides play out 2-2 draw

Liverpool lost more ground in the race for the Premier League title on Sunday as they failed to overcome Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The two sides played out a 2-2 draw – and Liverpool fans have applauded N’Golo Kante.

Liverpool came into the match 12 points behind Manchester City, after Pep Guardiola’s side secured a late win over Arsenal at The Emirates. The Reds needed to win just to keep the deficit below double digits.

The Reds got off to a flying start – but it could have been very different. Sadio Mane could easily have seen red for an elbow in the first minute against Cesar Azpilicueta. Mane himself opened the scoring, in his last game before AFCON.

Similarly, Mo Salah is about to jet off to AFCON and play for Egypt – but not before he scored another brilliant goal for Liverpool. But it was 2-2 before half-time, thanks to Mateo Kovacic’s wonder goal and Christian Pulisic’s effort.

What are Liverpool fans saying about Chelsea midfielder Kante?

Kante, 30, got an assist for Chelsea – creating Pulisic’s goal, as well as producing three key passes, according to WhoScored. That was more than any of his teammates. Two tackles, three interceptions, 63 out of 73 passes.

A masterclass of a performance from the 2018 World Cup winner. Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter after watching £30million (BBC) Chelsea star Kante shine at Stamford Bridge – and many applauded the Frenchman.
