Liverpool fans excited by Under-23 star after sparkling Monday display
Liverpool fans are excited on Twitter, after watching Elijah Dixon-Bonner score a brace for the club’s Under-23 side against Blackburn on Monday.
Dixon-Bonner, 20, has been a regular in the Under-23 side over the last couple of seasons and even made his senior debut against Shrewsbury.
Clocking up his 50th appearance for the 23’s on Monday, Liverpool came up against Blackburn in Premier League 2 – and Dixon-Bonner netted twice.
The England Under-17 international opened the scoring for Liverpool after Max Woltman’s effort was parried into the box. Dixon-Bonner tapped in.
He made it 2-0 with a beauty, curling into the top right-hand corner from the opposite of the box. But it was not enough to win, as Blackburn rallied.
With 12 minutes left, Jacob Davenport got a goal back and then on 86 minutes – the Blackburn talent got a second to secure a point.
What are Liverpool fans saying about Dixon-Bonner on Twitter?
Now at 20, Dixon-Bonner is playing for his future. The chances of him breaking into the senior side seem small, with competition aplenty.
He might make the bench here or there – but the likes of Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have overtaken him. Dixon-Bonner is older than both.
It is unclear when his contract ends, but his performances for the 23’s will surely be putting him in the shop window. Especially, his efforts on Monday.
Liverpool fans, though, has their say on Dixon-Bonner after his brace and many are delighted to see him scoring a brace for the Reds.
