Jamie Carragher wouldn’t yet include current enforcer Fabinho in the top three Liverpool midfielders of the Premier League era – but some of the Reds supporters on Twitter disagree with him.
There has been a discussion on social media about the best midfielders to play at Anfield since the Premier League was introduced for the 1992/93 season.
Jamie Redknapp, Dietmar Hamann, Fabinho, Philippe Coutinho, Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Jordan Henderson, Gary McAllister, James Milner, Steven Gerrard and Georginio Wijnaldum are the players put forward by Liverpool Echo during a Twitter talk with fans.
Ex-Liverpool defender Carragher weighed in with his answers and picked the trio of Gerrard, Alonso and Masharano.
But he did admit that current Reds midfielder Fabinho is someone that could break into that by the end of the new campaign.
“Gerrard, Alonso, Mascharano! Fabinho could get in by the end of the season!!” Carragher wrote on his personal Twitter account.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media feel that Fabinho has already achieved so much in just over a year on Merseyside and rank him with the best midfielders at the club in recent times.
The 25-year-old joined from Monaco last summer and had a stunning debut season under Jurgen Klopp.
He played a mammoth role in the defensive midfield position during the club’s success in the Champions League last season that saw them lift their sixth European trophy, as well as finish runners-up in the Premier League with a staggering 97 points.
The South American hardman has continued in the same vein this campaign and is a massive favourite for the way he breaks up play, as well as dictates play with his passing.
Here are some Liverpool fans voicing their opinion about Fabinho:
