Liverpool fans divided over performance of Adam Lallana against West Ham

Jurgen Klopp sprang a surprise to some Liverpool fans this evening when he started Adam Lallana against West Ham United. The Reds were without both Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson, so Klopp gave Lallana a chance to shine.

A former favourite under Klopp, his injury record in recent years has seen his development falter. This was, in fact, his first start in the Premier League since a 4-1 win against Cardiff City back in October.

It would be fair to say that opinion has been divided on the internet regarding Lallana’s performance.

He had some good touches and played a role in the Liverpool opening goal. In hindsight, this touch through to James Milner was to an offside man but it was still an influential moment in the fixture.

However, some Liverpool fans again felt that Lallana slowed down the game too much and it impacted on the team’s attacking flow.

In the end, he came off for Xherdan Shaqiri, the player many Liverpool fans felt should have got the nod ahead of him in the first place. Liverpool drew the game 1-1 and there is no doubt fans were divided on Lallana’s performance.

Here is some of the better reaction to his display…

…and others who felt Lallana should not get such a chance again any time soon…
