Liverpool fans have been rocked by the news that Virgil van Dijk will need surgery on his knee.
The Dutch defender was forced from the action against Everton yesterday, after a strong challenge from Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The 29-year-old lasted just 11 minutes before being replaced by Joe Gomez, and there is understandable anger from Liverpool supporters about the nature of Pickford’s challenge.
Those fans have been hoping for a miracle, but it appears their worst fears have been confirmed.
An official statement reads: “Liverpool FC can confirm Virgil van Dijk will undergo surgery on the knee injury he sustained during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Everton.
