Liverpool fans discuss signing Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake on Twitter

Liverpool are expected to enter the transfer market this summer for a new centre-back as Dejan Lovren continues to be linked with an Anfield exit – and some Reds supporters want Bournemouth star Nathan Ake signed.

Italian outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi claim Lovren is the subject of a five-club race. Serie A outfit Lazio are leading the race for Lovren, who is due to enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer.

The report also states that Lovren’s former side Lyon and AC Milan are interested, while Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham are said to want the Croat defender. It is becoming more and more clear that he will leave in the summer.

It will leave Liverpool with a void to fill. The fact Lovren has played 14 times this season proves Liverpool need a central defender, despite boasting Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk. Ake could become an option to replace Lovren.

Sky Sports claim Ake is worth a whopping £75million, the same price Liverpool paid Southampton for van Dijk – who is coincidentally Ake’s Netherlands teammate. Van Dijk has described Ake as: “A great player and a great guy,” as per the Echo.

With Lovren expected to be on his way out, Liverpool fans have discussed signing Ake – stating he could be the ideal centre-back to bring to Anfield in the summer.
