Liverpool earned a late 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in front of a handful of supporters at Anfield on Wednesday night – and Reds supporters have raved about captain Jordan Henderson’s performance.
Henderson, 30, impressed in midfield alongside Gini Wijnaldum and Curtis Jones – but the Reds were largely frustrated in their bid to capitalise on their utter dominance in terms of territory, possession and efforts on goal.
Liverpool took the lead, albeit somewhat fortuitously. Mo Salah’s first time effort looped into the air after a deflection and found the top corner of Hugo Lloris’ net. But it was 1-1 soon after, thanks to a Jose Mourinho-style counter.
In true Tottenham fashion, the North London side broke with blistering speed. Gio Lo Celso drove forward and timed his pass to Son Heung-min with perfection. The South Korea captain did the rest, scoring past Alisson.

Liverpool dominated proceedings with Spurs boasting chances on the counter. Sadio Mane hit the bar, while Harry Kane curled an effort wide. Tottenham looked likely to remain top of the table, but Roberto Firmino scored late on.
The Brazilian powered a header into back of the net in injury time, with Harry Kane seemingly switching off in his own penalty area and Toby Alderweireld caught under the flight off the ball.
Liverpool supporters reacted on Twitter to Henderson’s performance for Liverpool, and many were in awe of their captain – who produced a sturdy performance and rarely gave the ball away with his passing.
