A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to the performance of Ibrahima Konate after their win over Newcastle United at Anfield on Thursday.

The Reds have ensured that they remain within touching distance of the Premier League summit. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men did not make it easy for themselves.

Jonjo Shelvey scored a brilliant goal early on to stun his former club. But Liverpool were not behind for too long. And they needed even less time to then go in front.

Diogo Jota equalised for the home side, before Mohamed Salah put them ahead. Newcastle threatened to spring a further surprise on the counter attack every so often. But Liverpool were largely in control. And Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed the three points with a rocket in the final minutes.

Liverpool were dealt a big blow ahead of the contest. Virgil van Dijk was ruled out, along with Fabinho and Curtis Jones. But Konate proved a real point with his performance.

He was very good in possession. And he more than played his part in ensuring that Allan Saint-Maximin was not able to cause too many problems once he was through to the backline.
