Liverpool fans discuss Andy Carroll following club’s OTD Twitter post

Some Liverpool fans discussed Andy Carroll on Twitter, after the club made an ‘on this day’ post on the social media site.

The post included a video of the two goals Carroll scored against against Manchester City in a Premier League game at Anfield in April 2011.

The first was a stunning strike from distance into the bottom corner that gave Joe Hart no chance, and the second was a towering header into the corner. The Reds won the game 3-0.

Carroll’s brilliant brace was his first two goals for the club following his incredible £35 million transfer from Newcastle United in January (BBC Sport).

It was a great performance from the big man, and it looked as though Liverpool had a player on their hands.

But Carroll was never able to produce his best consistently at Anfield, and stuggling to justify his price tag.

He was loaned to West Ham United ahead of the 2012/13 season and later made the move permanent for around £15 million (BBC Sport).
