Naby Keita started for Liverpool in the draw against Leicester City on Wednesday night – and many of the club’s supporters on Twitter ripped into him for his performance.

The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield by the Foxes, as they slipped up against a team outside of the top six for the first time in the Premier League this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side didn’t fully capitalise on Manchester City’s defeat to Newcastle United a day earlier, but still stretched their lead at the top of the league table to five points.

The Merseyside club made a blistering start to the game and were in front early courtesy of a well-placed Sadio Mane finish into the far corner.

But Leicester delivered a decent performance at Anfield and there goal came through defender Harry Maguire just on the stroke of half-time.

A selection of Liverpool fans on social media were particularly angry with Keita after his contribution and he was substituted off in the second-half by Klopp.

The 23-year-old central midfielder has not quite hit the ground running during his first season with Liverpool and is trying to nail down his spot in the starting team.

He is an all-action central midfielder that needs to try improve physically and is yet to score for the club.

There is stiff competition for places in Liverpool’s midfield when everyone is fit and his form surely has to improve to become an automatic pick.
