Liverpool fans demand that Diogo Jota is recalled against Fulham
Liverpool host Fulham on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have urged manager Jurgen Klopp to play Diogo Jota from the start.
The Reds go into the weekend’s league fixture at Anfield off the back of five consecutive defeats at home.
Despite storming towards the league title last year, the Merseyside club currently find themselves seventh in the table and four points adrift of the Champions League spots.
They need to turn their poor form around drastically to ensure they finish in the top four, as no Champions League football next season would be a travesty for the club and a huge backwards step.
Klopp’s side were beaten 1-0 in their previous game at home to Chelsea, where once again it was their blunt attack that really disappointed.
A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media feel that bringing Jota back into the team this weekend would give them a much-needed boost.
Jota, who earns £90,000-a-week (Spotrac), has very recently returned from a knee injury and enjoyed a bright cameo appearance from the bench against Chelsea.
The 24-year-old Portuguese ace missed a couple of months this season, but beforehand he was lighting up the Reds attack and has nine goals in 18 appearances since he joined in the summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He’s a versatile forward that can play anywhere across the frontline and supporters are advising Klopp to put him straight back into the side.
