Roberto Firmino scored twice for national side Brazil in a World Cup qualifier – and some Liverpool fans on Twitter responded with excitement by suggesting it will be a great confidence boost for him.
The 29-year-old tucked in two right-footed finishes inside the box after some instinctive movement, as South American giants Brazil beat Bolivia 5-0.
Firmino is adored at Anfield for the role he’s played in recent years under manager Jurgen Klopp and he’s considered the man that joins the dots together in the false-nine position, but that doesn’t stop criticism from elsewhere due to a lack of goals.
The centre-forward scored 12 goals across all competitions last season for Liverpool, with teammates Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah often stealing the headlines.
He’s yet to score in his opening five appearances of this season and the Reds are under massive pressure when they return after the international break, as they were embarrassed 7-2 by Aston Villa in their previous match.
Liverpool do have the perfect opportunity to put that right though when they travel to Merseyside rivals Everton next and they’ll be looking to prove why they are still favourites to defend their league crown.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media were thrilled after seeing Firmino net twice on the international stage and feel he can carry that momentum into his club form.
The high-profile Brazilian always has criticism thrown at him over not scoring enough goals, but the Reds often play well when he’s at his best and the goals will surely come for a player of his quality.
