England had high hopes of a first tournament final since 1966 last night but it was the Netherlands who qualified for Sunday’s showpiece with a 3-1 victory.
While Gareth Southgate decided not to start with any of the players who played in Saturday’s Champions League final, Ronald Koeman played Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Gigi Wijnaldum.
And the Reds pair put in strong performances, showing no signs of fatigue as their side came from behind to book their place in the final.
It can’t be disputed that England’s defending on the goals was incredibly poor but the Dutch were good value for their place in the final, as they dominated large swathes.

And Liverpool fans took to Twitter to praise the player who has had his best season in a red shirt since joining for a reported (BBC) £25 million from Newcastle in 2016 and could add more silverware to his collection on Sunday.
