Liverpool were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have insisted that Takumi Minamino should have been used in the contest.

The Reds are unbeaten still this season in the English top-flight, but now have plenty of work to do in their second leg at Anfield against Atletico if they hope to retain their European crown from last year.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media have suggested that summer signing Minamino should have had an opportunity in midweek against Atletico.

The attacking midfielder ended up being an unused substitute for the game and is still trying to make his serious impact following his January arrival.
