Liverpool’s under-23 outfit ran riot against Southampton at the club’s academy base last night.
Goals from Harvey Elliott, Joe Hardy (2), Curtis Jones and Liam Millar ensured a routine 5-0 victory for the Reds.
Liverpool clearly benefitted from several of their players featuring in the first team in recent weeks.

Jones, Elliott, Neco Williams and Pedro Chirivella all played for Neil Critchley’s team and they proved far too strong for the Saints.
Hardy only arrived from Brentford last week. The 21-year-old looked class during his first league appearance for the Reds and took his goals well.
A former Manchester City forward, Hardy is capable of playing anywhere across a front three and that could bode well if he ever gets a chance in the first-team.
Despite the likes of Jones, Elliott and Chirivella catching the eye for the first-team of late, it was Hardy who took centre stage last night.

He showcased a lethal touch in front of goal and left supporters blown away on Twitter after the game.
Hardy was withdrawn in the 64th minute, denying him the chance for a hat-trick but nonetheless the damage was done.
Here is a selection of tweets from Liverpool supporters after Hardy’s devastating display of finishing:
