Liverpool fans bemoan Henderson's defending claim

Liverpool fans bemoan Henderson’s defending claim.

The Reds shipped three goals against Brentford on the weekend and looked poor at the back.

In response to that display, the Anfield captain, Jordan Henderson, has claimed that they need to defend better as a team.

Ahead of tough matches against Porto tonight and then Manchester City this weekend, Henderson knows they need to be better.

The Reds won’t get away with defending like they did on Saturday.

Shipping three to Brentford was an eye-opener, though.

Henderson claimed after the game that his side needs to defend better as a team and not just rely upon the centre-backs (Daily Mail).

In response to those words, many Liverpool fans have retorted back that Henderson needs to lead and defend from the back.

For Brentford’s second goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold was left marking three players at the back post.

That’s simply not good enough and the fans want to see Henderson back helping out there.

The Reds may be a fantastic attacking force who can break down any side on their day.

However, their defensive standards massively slipped over the weekend and the fans want proof that it was just a blip.

Away in Porto tonight, Liverpool have a chance to prove that their standards haven’t dropped.

A clean sheet and a dominant performance from Henderson tonight is just what the fans want.

However, it won’t be easy at all.

Porto are an adept side, having knocked Juventus out of the Champions League last season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be desperate to make it six points from six in Europe and staying tight at the back is crucial to that.

What do the fans think?
