Liverpool supporters were visibly frustrated both in and outside Anfield at times during the 1-0 win against Arsenal.
The Reds went into the clash at Anfield as the Premier League’s top scorers, going head-to-head against one of the best defensive sides in the top-flight.
Surprisingly, Liverpool were the underdogs heading into the clash despite being the defending champions, but the Gunners truly showcased their credentials with an admirable away performance.
Liverpool found chances very few and far between on Sunday, and it was the visitors who, in fact, had the most clear-cut opportunities.
That was until Dominik Szoboszlai unleashed a thunderous free-kick into the back of the net in the 83rd minute, winning the match for the Reds.
Florian Wirtz has struggled in a red shirt since becoming the club’s record signing, and it appears the fans have had enough of their £116 million man.

Liverpool fans are frustrated with Florian Wirtz
The German international arrived in the Premier League with huge expectations, naturally given the eye-watering fee paid to acquire his services from Bayer Leverkusen.
Wirtz was nominated for the Ballon d’Or this year following his displays last season, and it appears it will take a while before he replicates that form at Anfield.
It is a massive adjustment to immediately impress in England but with fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike hitting the ground running, the excuses are wearing thin – Wirtz needs to regain his confidence.
During the match against Arsenal, the Reds supporters voiced their opinions about the number seven and the feeling of disappointment was resounding.
One fan wrote: ““Honestly I think Wirtz really needs to be pushed further forward and Szoboslzai needs to go back into midfield with Bradley at right back. I think the pace of the game has shocked Florian more than anyone anticipated.”
“Wirtz has had a less than inspiring start to his Liverpool career to date. Really struggling to influence any of the 3 league games so far,” claimed another.
Another fan said: “Wirtz is having a very worrying start to the season, he is not adapting and is not the decisive player he was at Leverkusen and for whom so much was paid.”
It is clear that the Liverpool supporters are not just disappointed in Wirtz’s performance but starting to grow concerned: “Mutuals said Florian Wirtz was going to flop. I have to agree with them. Szoboszlai is doing more from right back than him.”
Whereas one supporter believes they know how Arne Slot can get the best out of Wirtz: “Wirtz is going to take a long time to settle , feel like he almost needs to get the Fabinho treatment and get eased into the team. He looks completely lost out there and miles off the pace every game so far.”
Florian Wirtz can benefit from the international break
It may be time for Slot to revert to the midfield three who led Liverpool to the league title last season.
Szoboszlai has been far too influential at the beginning of the campaign to be dropped after the international break, Alexis Mac Allister will have returned to match fitness, and Ryan Gravenberch is the heartbeat of the side.
As one fan pointed out, Fabinho waited a long time before Jurgen Klopp granted the Brazilian his first start; the time spent on the training ground paid off, as he immediately hit the ground running.
Indeed, there will be pressure to play Wirtz given the money spent on his services, but if his form shows no sign of improvement over the next few weeks, Slot will have an important decision to make.
