Liverpool face Alexander Isak competition as club plot £150m move PIF want Newcastle to consider

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that PIF want Alexander Isak to consider a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Isak was omitted from Newcastle’s pre-season squad, which made the trip to Asia for games against Arsenal, K-League XI and Tottenham Hotspur. The Tyneside club claim this was due to a ‘minor’ injury.

Following the update that the Swede hadn’t made the trip to Singapore, news broke that the 25-year-old had actually requested to seek a move away from St James’ Park.

Many clubs from around the world will be on red alert after the striker made it apparent that he was hoping to leave Newcastle, with Saudi Arabia and Liverpool at the front of the queue.

Exclusive: Saudi ready to pay £150 million for Alexander Isak

Al Hilal and PIF are prepared to pay £150 million to bring Alexander Isak to the Middle East this summer, Graeme Bailey, Chief Correspondent at TBR Football, has been told.

The Saudi Pro League giants, Al Hilal, are searching for an elite-level striker, and there is no doubt that Isak fits the bill perfectly for them.

Initially, Newcastle hoped to tie their talisman down to a new contract paying him more than Bruno Guimaraes, although Isak’s demand for £300k-per-week left them shocked.

The Reds are also in the picture for the player, with Liverpool ready to pay £120m for Isak, depending on how the situation develops.

At this stage, a move to Saudi is unlikely to appeal to Isak, however, that could well change across the remainder of the summer window.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Al Hilal want a top striker and PIF are open to paying a huge fee of £150 million to take him to Saudi Arabia.

“And was it just a coincidence we saw Isak’s agent talking to the Saudi Arabian press last week? Of course not.

“Would Isak, as arguably the best striker in the world, be prepared to move to Saudi Arabia? Let’s see how this pans out. I have my doubts.

“Liverpool, at this point, are saying they are ‘aware’ of the Isak situation.”

The Premier League champions have already spent close to £300 million this summer, but could be ready to strike again should Isak become available.

As exclusively revealed by TBR Football, Isak has been prioritising Liverpool this summer, and should Arne Slot’s team firm up their interest, then a British record deal could be on the cards.

Liverpool’s line-up with Alexander Isak looks extraordinary

Slot is starting to build a remarkable team at Anfield, and the prospect of adding Isak to his line-up is quite a scary thought.

The Reds have already upgraded several areas in their team, including at full-back through the arrivals of Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

A front line of Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike and Isak would have to be considered one of the best in Europe. Last season, the trio scored a combined total of 83 goals across all competitions.

Then, adding the creative talent that is Florian Wirtz behind them could elevate their games to an even higher level.
