A young Liverpool team defeated Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday and one of the standout performers could be set for a new deal.

Pedro Chririvella was the man tasked with pulling the strings in midfield and he played superbly well.

The 22-year-old was up against the experienced Morgan Schneiderlin and Gylfi Sigurdsson but coped admirably.

It was a performance from the Spaniard that belied his tender years and it may earn him a new deal at Anfield.

The former Spain under-17 international is out of contract during the summer but Goal claims that Chirivella might be offered an extension.

Given his age, it makes perfect sense to offer him another chance to prove himself at the club.

Although he has been on the books at Liverpool since 2015, he has proved something of a late bloomer.

Chirivella has spent time on loan with Go Ahead Eagles, Willem II and Extremadura.

This season he has featured in all four of Liverpool’s domestic cup fixtures and looked solid each time he has worn the shirt.

A loan move to an English club would aid his development and on Sunday’s showing, he would look quality in the Championship.

Forest have been linked with a loan move for the youngster (Goal) but Liverpool would be wise to secure his future first.

According to Who Scored he had a pass success ratio of 83% and was constantly trying to set Liverpool on their way in a forward direction.

Boss Jurgen Klopp might have been considering severing ties with him at the end of this season – or even in January.

Chirivella came of age on Sunday in a ferocious derby and as a result, he deserves longer to prove his Anfield credentials.
