Fabinho and Kaide Gordon react on Instagram as starlet shines for Liverpool

Harvey Elliott looks set to burst onto the scene at Anfield this season, with Jurgen Klopp set to keep him around the Liverpool squad. Yesterday he lined up in central midfield against Athletic Bilbao and earned praise on Instagram afterwards.

Liverpool drew the game 1-1, with Klopp opting to play a relatively experienced team. Elliott was the youngster player in the starting line-up and joined James Milner and Naby Keita in the midfield.

Elliott spent last season on loan with Blackburn Rovers. In 42 appearances for the Championship outfit, he scored seven times and claimed 11 assists during a standout season.

At just 18 the future looks extremely bright. The fact he’s been used in Klopp’s latest home-friendly certainly suggests that he’s in contention to play during 2021/22.

Elliott is proving himself to be a versatile performer. He operated largely on the wing for Blackburn but showcased his class in midfield during yesterday’s draw.

Following the game, he posted on Instagram how nice it had been to feature at Anfield once more.

Two current Liverpool players and one ex-Reds star had plenty of kind words about the youngster following yesterday’s game.

Gordon opted for three words to sum up the performance of his fellow youngster.

Current midfielder Fabinho chose a more subtle response to the player, choosing an emoji to describe how Elliott had performed.

Finally, former left-back Enrique used six words and praised the showing which Elliott produced during the final pre-season game at Anfield.

Elliott will have relished the chance to star during Liverpool’s pre-season campaign and now attention turns to next weekend.

Liverpool travel to Norwich on the opening day of the campaign and it will be interesting to see if Elliott gets the nod to start the clash.
