Liverpool don’t need starlet Omur because of their existing young talent

Liverpool are on the trail of Turkish starlet Abdulkadir Omur of Trabzonspor, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web.

They report that both the Reds and Napoli – whom they knocked out of the Champions League earlier this season – are interested in the teenage playmaker.

The report compares Omur – who is a Turkish under 21 international – directly to former Reds star Philippe Coutinho and says that Liverpool have had him watched.

While there is perhaps a Coutinho-shaped hole in Liverpool’s midfield at present, if Jurgen Klopp wants a youngster to help plug it, he already has plenty of talent on his hands.

Harry Wilson has caught the eye at club and international level so far this season, Ben Woodburn remains a huge talent and midfielder Herbie Kane is doing well on loan at Doncaster.

Klopp should be looking to promote from within if he wants to add creativity and depth to his frontline, as opposed to hoovering up talent from abroad.

There is so much quality in the ranks already at Anfield – a young English talent like Dominic Solanke had to seek games at Bournemouth because he couldn’t force his way in – that bloating it with another starlet would be a major blow to the hopes of players such as Wilson, Woodburn, Kane and Ryan Kent in terms of getting into Klopp’s first-team picture.
