Liverpool have built a star-studded side at Anfield after sanctioning a near-£300 million outlay on signings this summer.
Arne Slot coasted to the Premier League title in his debut campaign for the Reds despite relying heavily on the squad he inherited from his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.
Now, Liverpool will boast a new-look side ahead of their defence of the English crown, with a clear goal set for the new season: to remain competitive across all competitions.
However, Slot has proven throughout pre-season his willingness to provide opportunities for youth and is now considering adding a few standout academy prospects to his first-team squad.

While the focus ahead of the new campaign will centre around the potential impact of new additions such as Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, there is one youngster who is now expected to make an impact at Anfield.
Rio Ngumoha backed to make an impact in the Premier League
According to a list provided by talkSPORT, Reds duo Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni remain wonderkids to watch out for as they prepare to be trusted with first-team duties this season.
Although Nyoni has also impressed significantly when featuring for Liverpool, Ngumoha has been stealing the spotlight at Anfield following a seamless transition into the senior squad.
The feeling within the club is that the Reds have a “diamond” on their hands in Ngumoha, and it is hard to disagree. The 16-year-old has returned three goals and one assist across pre-season.

He is now considered a full-time first-team player at Anfield and could establish himself as Liverpool’s long-term replacement for Luis Diaz should he continue his scintillating form into competitive fixtures.
While it is hard to contain the excitement for Ngumoha’s potential, Slot must manage expectations for the youngster as he continues to capture the eye – journalist Ben Jacobs has already dubbed Ngumoha as “generational”.
Ngumoha and Nyoni impact highlight smart Liverpool transfer policy
Liverpool can, of course, take credit for the development of Ngumoha and Nyoni as academy prospects to now first-team squad members, but their rise through the ranks is further vindication of how the Reds operate in the transfer market.
Unbeknownst to most, Nyoni began his footballing journey at Championship outfit Leicester City before deciding to continue his development at the AXA Training Centre.
Ngumoha’s move to the Reds, on the other hand, gained media attention as he was highly regarded as one of the brightest prospects at Cobham before making the switch to Merseyside.

Chief Correspondent Graeme Bailey exclusively revealed to TBR Football that Chelsea are annoyed with Ngumoha’s rise at Liverpool after being left powerless to his shock departure.
Nevertheless, Ngumoha saw a clear pathway at Anfield and took his opportunity with both hands and now Chelsea must watch as he establishes himself as a Premier League player this season.
