Liverpool have a top talent in their ranks who's like a 'young Zizou', he's set for a big season - TBR View

After last year’s struggles, Liverpool are once again looking absolutely superb.

The Reds are joint-top of the Premier League table, top of their Champions League group, and in the last 16 of the League Cup.

And while the return of several key players has been crucial, there are some top talents coming through the ranks and breaking into the first team.

That said, Curtis Jones is no longer just a talented prospect – on Tuesday, he clocked up his 50th Liverpool appearance.

The 20-year-old shone against Norwich, impressing in defensive midfield as his neat footwork and composure helped get him out of tight spaces.

In the second half, he was pushed further forward in the second half and continued to do well.

Liverpool have an “absolutely fantastic” talent in Jones

Jones has risen through the ranks at Anfield and has come such a long way in the last couple of years.

In early 2018, Jones signed his first professional contract at Anfield and made his Liverpool Under-23s debut.

Three-and-a-half years on, and the midfielder has a half-century of appearances for his boyhood club.

Jones also has the accolade of being Liverpool’s youngest ever captain in a game, a contract until 2025, and six England Under-21 caps.

And this season, a combination of fighting on four fronts and Harvey Elliott’s injury means Klopp is likely to call on Jones more often.

Some recent comparisons – from Liverpool fans and neutrals – show how highly rated he is:

As well as his talent and potential, Jones’ attitude around the training ground is top notch.

“Curtis Jones is unbelievable, isn’t he?” U23s coach Gary O’Neil told talkSPORT late last year.

“He’s gone into the first-team and made it look so easy.

“He’s been absolutely fantastic, he’s a great kid as well.

“He still comes down and watches the Under-23s when his schedule allows him. He’s still fantastic with all the boys.”

There’s bound to be plenty more to come from Jones this season and beyond – amazing news for everyone connected with Anfield.
