Report: Liverpool now want to sign a player who left his international boss fuming this weekend
Liverpool have it all to do this summer if they want to replace Sadio Mane, but it seems the Reds are ready to strike for Leeds star Raphinha to do so.
Mane seems to be well on his way to Bayern Munich. Multiple sources have reported on the deal and it seems only a matter of time before the Senegalese star seals a switch to the German giants. Liverpool, meanwhile, will be tasked with replacing the former Southampton man, despite signing Luis Diaz in January.
And according to The Mirror, one player who could fit the bill for Liverpool is Leeds star Raphinha. The Brazilian star has been a shining light for Leeds once again this last 12 months. However, there is huge speculation that he could be on his way out of the club, albeit he has hinted this weekend he might well stay at Elland Road.
Liverpool have had a long-standing interest in Raphinha. He has lit up the Premier League ever since signing for Leeds and played a key role in them avoiding relegation last term.
Leeds are expected to ask for around £50-60m if they are to sell Raphinha. Along with Kalvin Phillips, the winger is seen as being key for the Whites’ first XI.
TBR’s View: Raphinha Is Good Enough To Step Up For Liverpool
You’d have to say, on the surface of things anyway, that the ‘fantastic‘ Raphinha would be a good replacement for Mane at Liverpool.
He is high energy, loves to excite the crowd and, crucially, he can deliver in the final third with goals and assists. Of course, he didn’t have his best game this weekend for Brazil, where it was reported he ‘annoyed’ manager Tite. But that might be a one off, and he’s done the business for Brazil before.
If Liverpool can sign Raphinha, you get the feeling he’ll be nothing but a success.
