Liverpool could now be able to land one of Arne Slot’s top targets this summer for a discounted price in the coming weeks.
So far it’s been a frustrating few months in terms of transfers for Liverpool supporters, who are yet to see Slot backed.

In that regard, Richard Hughes did recently state that he expects Liverpool to be busier at the end of the window, once the Dutchman has had time to assess his squad.
Early indications are that Slot would like to add a centre-back to his squad, and perhaps even a defensive midfielder.
Slot is willing to hand a chance to Sepp Van den Berg in pre-season, who has been linked with an exit.
But it still seems as if Liverpool will welcome a new addition, which is perhaps a sensible move given Virgil van Dijk continues to be linked with a move away.
That being said, Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio will be a name very familiar with Liverpool fans by this point.
After an ‘incredible’ season with Sporting, Inacio is said to be Slot’s priority signing.
Liverpool told they can sign Goncalo Inacio for less than his €60m release clause
22-year-old Inacio is a left-footer and would be well suited to replacing Van Dijk immediately or after a year on the sidelines.
And according to CM Sport in Portugal, the defender could now be available for a very reasonable price – which could soften the blow of missing out on Leny Yoro, who has moved to Manchester United.

According to the report mentioned, Sporting are ‘not closing the door’ on a deal and have now agreed to start talks for a price of around €45m (£38m).
Sporting consider themselves well-stocked in central defence should they lose Inacio, given they have already signed Zeno Debast from Belgium.
And therefore it would seem as if Liverpool could have a clean run at a deal for Inacio, especially as United have now found their new option.
And at the price mentioned, Liverpool would still have the funds to seek a new defensive midfielder, perhaps the likes of Benfica’s Joao Neves.
A double-deal for the Portuguese pair would be an extremely ambitious move, and perhaps one that would change Slot’s early fortunes at Anfield.
All that being said, one midfielder has decided he’d rather join United over Liverpool this summer.
