Liverpool held an interest in Chelsea No.18 Christopher Nkunku – although Jurgen Klopp was not convinced by the Frenchman.
That is according to The Times.
So, what was said about Liverpool and Christopher Nkunku? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool decided against signing Christopher Nkunku
Well – according to The Times – Liverpool thought about signing the France international during his time at RB Leipzig.
Nkunku enjoyed a fantastic spell in Germany, scoring 70 goals while also providing 56 assists in 172 appearances for RB Leipzig.
However, for reasons undisclosed by The Times, Klopp and Pep Lijnders were not entirely convinced by the man from Lagny-sur-Marne.
Chelsea eventually sealed a £52m agreement with RB Leipzig for Nkunku.

The 26-year-old has endured a tough debut campaign at Stamford Bridge so far this season as injuries prove to be a major obstacle.
Nkunku has only been able to make seven Premier League appearances for Chelsea, but has shown flashes of his brilliance with two goals in those outings – including a fine strike against Liverpool.
Liverpool proven right
As talented as Nkunku is, Klopp was right to ignore him – as Liverpool have recruited tremendously well when it comes to attacking reinforcements.
Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have all registered double figures for goals this season – no club in Europe has this many players with ten goals or more, as shown by Squawka.

There is also a nice blend of young attacking talent being introduced, such as Jayden Danns – who received praise from Robbie Fowler after his debut against Luton Town – Ben Doak, and others.
Clearly, Liverpool have hit the nail on the head when it comes to recruiting – and coaching – forwards, so regardless of whether Nkunku finds some form at Chelsea, the Reds can take comfort in knowing they signed the correct attackers.
