Liverpool picked up a super impressive win at Tottenham this weekend and the performance of Ibrahima Konate at the back was eye-catching again.
Konate has returned from injury and took his place back alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the Liverpool defence.
On a day when the Reds needed a win, Konate produced the goods. He produced a number of well-time blocks and helped out Trent Alexander-Arnold more than once against Spurs.

And according to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool’s coaches think they’ve dropped on a truly great player by landing Konate. The big defender signed from RB Leipzig for £36m and has looked a quality addition ever since.
The Athletic reports today how Liverpool’s coaching staff are utterly convinced by Konate. It’s claimed that Konate’s mentality has impressed staff. A moment against Benfica last season is pointed to, where it claims the Liverpool coaches believe Konate showed great maturity and temperament.
Konate will be hoping to put any injury problems firmly behind him now. Alongside Van Dijk, the Frenchman can prove to be a key factor in Liverpool climbing back up the table.
TBR’s View: Konate looks better than Van Dijk sometimes
Liverpool have got it spot on in signing Ibou Konate. He truly is an exceptional defender and when fit, there won’t be many better pairings than he and Van Dijk this season.
The key for Konate now is to just stay fit. He needs to keep his head above water and put together a run of games to allow he and Van Dijk to regain that partnership they showed last term.
If he does that, and if he can keep outshining his Dutch partner, then Liverpool will be well back in the top four fight.
Konate is a class act, and it showed against Tottenham.
