Liverpool under-23s coach Neil Critchley has lauded the quality of 22-year-old Pedro Chirivella. The young Spaniard is clearly very highly thought of at Anfield. The midfielder may well have a place in Jurgen Klopp’s future plans.

Critchley certainly believes that Chirivella deserves his first team opportunities. The coach told the official Liverpool website that, “Pedro has been incredible…I’m so proud of Pedro as a person and the experience he is getting at the moment he deserves it more than anyone”.

Critchley also hailed Chirivella’s work ethic, stating, “he is first on the training ground every day, he plays like a real leader and the boys love him for that”.

Klopp has certainly recognised Chirivella’s talent. The former Valencia academy ace captained the Reds in their recent Carabao Cup quarter final clash with Aston Villa, and also shone at Anfield when Liverpool took on Shrewsbury Town in an FA Cup fourth round replay. Chirivella has now notched up six senior appearances for the Merseyside club this season. He may well add to that tally before the end of the campaign.

With Adam Lallana’s contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, Chirivella may well get the chance to replace the injury-prone Englishman in Klopp’s midfield contingent. The youngster certainly has Critchley’s backing to step up to that challenge. Rather than resorting to the transfer window, Klopp would probably be wise to put his faith in Chirivella.
