Liverpool could be set to seal a bargain, according to Calciomercato, who claim that Borussia Monchengladbach could make midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud available for sale. The German has a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for just £8.5 million in the summer and is reportedly reluctant to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Juventus and AC Milan have also been linked, with Jurgen Klopp said to be an admirer of the 21-year-old. Monchengladbach could look to cash in while they can rather than drag out talks over a new deal if Dahoud is reluctant to commit, with Liverpool sure to be keeping an eye on the situation.

More immediately, though, Jurgen Klopp was left hugely disappointed by his side’s defeat to Championship side Wolves knocked them out of the FA Cup. He said:

“Cup games like this are always difficult [and] in our situation, after losing two games, not full of confidence, not flying through the league. We made a lot of changes, of course, most of them because we couldn’t do it differently, but a few because we wanted [to]… I don’t feel that [the team] let me down or something. I am responsible for the line-up; I saw them training and I thought ‘That’s the line-up’… At one point I will watch the game again and then I will know a little bit more about it, but from tomorrow onwards we have to prepare for the Chelsea game.”

Divock Origi’s late consolation effort was not enough to mount a comeback after the Reds conceded two in the first half with a weakened line-up.

In more bad news, Calciomercato report that Inter Milan’s young sensation Andrea Pinamonti is close to agreeing a new deal at the San Siro, putting an end to a potential move to Anfield after the club were linked.

The Italian has scored 14 goals in 13 games for the club’s youth team this season, attracting interest from Juventus and Tottenham as well as Liverpool, with his current deal set to expire in the summer, but the 17-year-old is now expected to commit long-term to the club.
