Liverpool put the seal on a stunning 2018/19 campaign by beating Tottenham to win the Champions League.
The Reds finished the domestic campaign with an astonishing 97 points. It wasn’t to deny Manchester City their second title in succession, however, with Pep Guardiola’s team winning the league by a point.
With the season now consigned to the history books, boss Jurgen Klopp will probably go in search of some players to add to his squad.
With plenty of talent already at his disposal, it will probably be a case of quality over quantity for the German incumbent.
According to Portuguese news outlet CM Sport, the Reds are heavily courting Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Bruno Fernandes.
The 24-year-old would be a truly amazing signing for the Champions of Europe.
In 53 appearances during 2018/19, he netted 32 goals and claimed 18 assists from an attacking midfield position.
The Portugal international can play either as a central midfield enforcer or as a number ten behind a striker.
It is fair to suggest that Liverpool could do with adding more goals to their ranks from the middle of the park.
Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho are all masters of their trade but are all equally as defensive as one another.
If there is one area that you could say Klopp needs to strengthen it would be to add some goals to his midfield ranks.
CM Sport believes that £62 million is the valuation that Sporting would be willing to do business at. Given the season he has just had and the potential he has to improve that doesn’t seem like a bad price at all.
Klopp doesn’t need to add much to his squad this season, but the signing of Fernandes could prove an incredible addition.
