It was reported last week that the reigning Champions of Europe offered a final offer of £40 million for the 32-goal star last week.
Now, Correio da Manha is reporting that Jurgen Klopp wants to offer the £40 million plus Rafael Camacho as an advance on the previous offer.
The 24-year-old was one of Europe’s most feared players last season. His 32 goals went alongside 18 assists from 53 appearances.
Fernandes can operate either as a number ten or as an out-and-out central midfielder.
Sporting Lisbon were one of the admirers for Camacho anyway so throwing him into the deal appears to make sense.
Fernandes would be a quality addition to Liverpool and his presence would give them something that was lacking last season.
For all of Klopp’s success during 2018/19, goals weren’t overly forthcoming from his trio of midfielders.
Naby Keita, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson or James Milner aren’t really known for their goals and Fernandes provides a different option.
The fact he spent a lot of last season playing as a number 10 would also allow the German boss to mix things up.
The money being touted plus Camacho on top would make a great deal for Liverpool. Fernandes’ arrival at Anfield could see the Reds complete one of the signings of the summer.
