Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Red Bull Salzburg attacker Erling Haaland ahead of the Champions League match against the Austrian side on Wednesday night.
The Reds welcome Salzburg to Anfield in midweek for a group stage match in the Champions League.
The Merseyside club are looking to retain the European crown after success last season, but kicked off their group by losing away to Napoli.
Meanwhile, Salzburg produced a brilliant attacking display to beat Genk 6-2 in their first group match.
The Premier League giants will be favourites to earn three points at home on Wednesday, but have to be wary of dangerous opponents that are lethal going forward.
Haaland, 19, is the talisman in the Salzburg team and one of the best young upcoming talents around.
The centre-forward has netted a staggering 17 goals in 10 games across all competitions so far, including a hat-trick against Genk.
Klopp has raved about the teenager ahead of the European tie and rates him highly.
“Wonderful player, young, very confident. Looks clear minded on the pitch. Looks like a decent player and he’s in the perfect place at the moment to prepare for the next challenges of his life,” Klopp said about Haaland in his press conference, as quoted by Liverpool Echo.
Haaland is an exciting player already making a name for himself and a masterclass at Anfield will really see his reputation soar.
But the Norway international hasn’t played anyone quite in the same class as Liverpool and it’s going to be a real test to try get any change out of the Reds defence.
Virgil Van Dijk is currently the best centre-back in the world that is proving too much for most strikers, so Haaland may be wise to sit on the shoulder of Joe Gomez if he starts.
