Reported update on Bobby Duncan could hint at Liverpool first-team chance

Liverpool have started their 2019/20 campaign with a perfect record, securing wins against Norwich City and Southampton.

The Reds secured 97 points last season but missed out on the title with Manchester City winning the title by a single point.

Transfer activity was quiet during the summer. Only Adrian was added to the senior ranks, arriving on a free transfer following his West Ham release.

That has given some of the club’s younger players the chance to impress during pre-season.

With the season now in full swing, however, there is the talk of some moving out on loan. One man who won’t be doing that is Bobby Duncan.

The 18-year-old had been linked with a temporary switch to FC Nordsjaelland of Denmark; although Jurgen Klopp has quashed those reports, according to the Evening Standard.

If Duncan isn’t going to head out on loan this season, supporters will naturally be curious as to what his role will be.

Last season Duncan scored 25 goals for the club’s development squads and spent the pre-season campaign with the first-team.

This season under-23s action seems likely, but Klopp had the perfect chance to allow him to play men’s football.

The fact that he won’t go out on loan could make a small hint towards the boss handing him a chance.

Klopp has notoriously played weaker sides in the domestic cup competitions and that could open the door for Duncan to impress his gaffer.

Liverpool love to see their younger players get the chance to shine at first-team level and this latest update could see Duncan become the next off the conveyor belt of talent at Anfield.
