Liverpool are still interested in signing £40m player and the story could spark up again

Liverpool are yet to do any business this summer, but they have been pondering a rather intriguing signing over the past few days.

Indeed, Anthony Gordon is said to be a player that Liverpool have looked at signing over the past few days as Newcastle United have scrambled to hit their Profit and Sustainability targets by selling players.

Gordon was touted for a move to Anfield, and while that didn’t come to fruition before the June 30th accounting deadline, this deal is far from dead.

Indeed, according to Paul Gorst, speaking on the Blood Red Podcast, we may not have heard the last of Gordon in regards to a potential move to Liverpool, claiming that the Reds’ interest hasn’t gone away and a deal could be revisited.

Liverpool still interested in Anthony Gordon

Gorst shared what he knows about the £40m man and a potential move to Anfield.

“It doesn’t appear to be the last we have heard of it. There were some reports today that Gordon has had his head turned by the thoughts of playing for his boyhood club coming in for him and he was starting to dream of life as a Liverpool player,” Gorst said.

“The interest hasn’t gone away. Liverpool will have to pay a bit more of a premium now if they were to re-enter talks this summer, but certainly some real news to get stuck into.

“I don’t think it’s the last we’ve heard of it, I really don’t. Maybe the opportunity has passed Liverpool by to get him on the cheap.”

Anthony Gordon will be consistently linked

Liverpool will be consistently linked to Anthony Gordon all summer long, and these links may even persist beyond this window.

Indeed, it has been reported that Gordon’s head has been turned by the idea of joining Liverpool, and when a player this talented is so keen to sign for your club, speculation is going to be rife for a long time.

Of course, whether or not Newcastle are open to selling Gordon is another question entirely, but this could be a transfer rumour that stands the test of time and continues to crop up year after year, regardless of any intent or activity on this front.
