Liverpool are yet to sign a player this summer but that could be set to change before transfer deadline day.
Arne Slot said after the Reds’ 2-0 win against Ipswich Town that Liverpool remain on the lookout for reinforcements, having been frustrated in their efforts to add to their squad so far.
Martin Zubimendi opted to stay at Real Sociedad after initially being tempted by a move to Anfield, while a deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United broke down as the Magpies pulled the plug on it at the last moment.
Midfield remains an area of concern for Slot, but it now appears as if they may have found a solution, with Swedish youngster Daniel Svensson linked with a move to the club.
Daniel Svensson emerges on Liverpool’s radar

According to Football Transfers, Liverpool are ‘closely following’ Svensson, who is currently plying his trade with Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga.
The 22-year-old is predominantly a midfielder but has also been deployed as a left-back, a fact that highlights his versatility.
The report also states that Svensson’s underlying numbers are comparable to that of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo, who was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer.
Aside from the Reds, Juventus have also been linked with Svensson, who has already played five times for Nordsjælland this season.
Svensson’s versatility could appeal to Liverpool
Svensson is believed to be highly regarded in his home country and has been described as Nordsjælland’s ‘invisible hero’ as he is a quiet personality who usually goes under the radar.
In an interview with Danish newspaper Tipsbladet, Nordsjaelland boss Jens Olsen referred to the 22-year-old as ‘every coach’s dream,’ which is another indication that Svensson always puts his team first.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Zubmendi clearly shows they have a vacancy in midfield, while there could also be a spot open at left-back as neither Andy Robertson nor Kostas Tsimikas have set the world alight over the past 12 months.
Svensson ticks both those boxes and wouldn’t command a huge fee as he’s a relatively unknown commodity, making him an intriguing option for Liverpool. Whether or not the Reds press ahead with a move, though, remains to be seen.
