Liverpool get their Carabao Cup campaign underway tonight when they travel to Stadium MK to face Milton Keynes Dons for the very first time.
The two teams have never met each other before and Jurgen Klopp will hope to avoid an upset in the competition.
Changes are likely to be made by the Liverpool boss. With the Reds flying high in the Premier League, some of the club’s fringe players could get the chance to shine.

One man who will hope to get the nod to start this evening is goalkeeper Andrew Lonergan. The experienced performer joined the Reds on a one-year deal in the summer to add competition to the ranks following Alisson Becker’s injury.
The 35-year-old is a veteran of 335 games in the Championship and featured on the bench in Liverpool win over Southampton earlier in the campaign.
Ahead of tonight’s game, Lonergan has taken to Twitter to issue a rallying cry to the squad that will make the trip to Milton Keynes:

The wording of his post might spark speculation that he is set to make his debut in the third round contest.
It could also mean that he is simply in the squad, with Goal reporting earlier this week that Irish youngster Caoimhin Kelleher could be in line for his first start.

With Alisson showing no signs of a return just yet it seems sensible for Klopp not to risk current number one Adrian in any way, shape or form this evening.
Whether Lonergan gets the nod to make his debut remains to be seen and it really would be a dream come true should he get the chance to don the gloves for a club the size of Liverpool.
