Liverpool and Newcastle are among the clubs keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Kouadio Kone, according to Christian Falk.

German league and transfer expert Falk has told CaughtOffside that the impressive Kone is a wanted man. He claims Liverpool, Newcastle, and PSG are all keen, although he rules out Bayern Munich.

Kone, 21, is expected to be on the move in the summer after impressing for Gladbach. And Falk told CaughtOffside that there’s no shortage of suitors.

“It’s also a question of money but Gladbach knows that they will let Kouadio Koné go in the summer unless there’s an opportunity to keep hold of him. Liverpool are watching him, Newcastle were very interested in him, PSG also interested,” Falk said.

“Bayern says no, that’s my concrete information, they don’t want to buy him. Not this summer, perhaps in future but then he’s gone. Bayern have enough midfield players so they’re not in the race.”

Credited with being ‘assertive’ in midfield, Kone has been lauded for his tough tackling approach.

“He is credited as being especially assertive on the pitch. Hence, he has already won 201 tackling duels and in doing so has fought his way to the second rank in the league,” Bundesliga.com wrote on the midfielder.

TBR’s View: Kone one for the future for Liverpool

Liverpool need to get themselves some new blood in midfield so it’s easy to see why they’ve now been linked with a move for Kone.

The young midfielder seems to have a bit of everything about his game. As mentioned, he doesn’t mind a tackle and that would suit Liverpool, who are struggling for energy and ball winning in the middle of the park.

Kone is likely the next young player to get a big move from Germany. Liverpool, then, need to ensure they’re in position to do business.
