Both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing an English winger who has seriously impressed in Europe this season.
Following the arrival of Arne Slot at Anfield, Liverpool aren’t expected to be busy in the transfer market, given Jurgen Klopp has left a very well-prepared squad.
However, Slot could still make a couple of signings, with the club said to be interested in bringing in a new centre-back and a wide forward.
Similarly, Erik ten Hag has demanded that Man United seek a new centre-back, someone to replace Raphael Varane.
Of course, United are unlikely to end their business there, especially given that Jadon Sancho may leave permanently,
Sancho is thought to be valued at around £40m this summer, a figure that is likely to be too expensive for Borussia Dortmund.
But either way, United will be confident of finding a suitor, and that perhaps explains their interest in Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.
Liverpool and Man United enter race to sign £51m-rated Ademola Lookman
Italian source Calciomercato are now reporting that both Liverpool and Man United are interested in signing Lookman this summer, who left Everton back in 2019.
Lookman famously scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final last season, demonstrating the progress he’s made at 26-years-old.

Atalanta would only be willing to sell one of Lookman or Teun Koopmeiners this summer, who also has Premier League interest.
But according to the report mentioned, the Italian club would sell Lookman for €60m (£51m) in the coming months, a figure both Liverpool and Manchester United would be prepared to meet.
The information explains that Chelsea are also in the same hunt, interested in bringing Lookman back to England.
Although he was perhaps an inconsistent figure at the time, Lookman did enjoy some ‘unbelievable’ performances in the Premier League.
And after signing Lookman for £8m in 2022, Atalanta would be recouping a huge profit at the price tag mentioned, should they sanction a departure.
The Italian side would be loath to lose Lookman, a ‘pillar’ of their project, but wouldn’t say no in the face of an ‘irrefutable offer’.
