Whoever does replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is going to face quite the task, given the German’s success and close bond with the club and city in general.

Klopp has delivered the league title and Champions League to Anfield and is on course to bring the FA Cup home too, after seeing off Manchester City at Wembley this afternoon. Indeed, the Premier League is still alive and kicking too for Klopp and his Liverpool charges.

But what of 2024, when Klopp’s current contract expires. Well, according to The Telegraph, FSG have already decided on who they want to carry on from the German coach. And while a host of names might get mentioned, FSG have actually already decided that it is Klopp himself they want to lead the club beyond 2024, not anyone else.

The Telegraph reports how the club are still going to assess what it calls a ‘volatile market’ in the next two years. But it is Klopp who remains their man, and the American owners hope to convince the German to stay put.

Much like Alex Ferguson did with Manchester United, Klopp might find it hard to walk away. He has promised his family that he will move on in 2024. However, we all know how things change in football.

TBR’s View: Klopp Only Leaves Liverpool If All Objectives Achieved

Of course, you could argue that Klopp has delivered everything there is to deliver at Liverpool. But in football, there is always another challenge round the corner.

One of those challenges could be developing a new Liverpool team to challenge. The Reds have a host of exciting young players coming through right now. Could Klopp want to oversee that and see if he can build another title-winning team?

One things for sure, and it’s that Liverpool need to ensure continuity. Whoever does eventually replace Klopp has to be the right man. They’ll have watched what’s happened at Old Trafford and won’t want any of that at all.
