Alisson and Rhian Brewster congratulate Liverpool team-mates after Super Cup win

Liverpool claimed more silverware last night after they defeated Premier League rivals Chelsea to lift the UEFA Super Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s side needed a penalty shootout to overcome Frank Lampard’s determined bunch of youngsters, with the two teams level at 2-2 after extra-time.

It was the second trophy in three months for the Reds following their Champions League victory over Tottenham back in June.

Sadio Mane netted two goals last night whilst goalkeeper Adrian was the shootout hero, denying Tammy Abraham after Liverpool had scored all five of their spot-kicks.

The Spanish goalkeeper was in for the injured Alisson Becker and he immediately made his mark for his new club.

It has been a whirlwind week for the ex-West Ham United star. Having signed purely to act as an understudy for the Brazilian, Adrian now has a European medal to his name and looks like continuing in the side as Alisson recovers.

Following a win for Liverpool last night the club’s £90,000-a-week goalkeeper (Spotrac) tweeted his congratulations to his team-mates:

He wasn’t the only player who didn’t feature for Liverpool to tweet and Rhian Brewster knew exactly why the Reds would win.

The striker tweeted an ode to the city of Istanbul, where Liverpool famously came from three goals down to defeat AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final.

Remarkably Brewster now has two European medals without actually playing a single minute of football in either of the finals.

The 19-year is seemingly set for a bright future, however, and should play his part during the 2019/20 campaign.
