Chris Sutton hails ‘top class’ Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson

The pundit was impressed with the two full-backs during the win over Chelsea.

BBC and BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has called Liverpool full-backs Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold top class.

The striker won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 1995 and he took to Twitter after Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea yesterday.

Roberto Firmino netted Liverpool’s second goal shortly after Cesar Azpilicueta had seen an effort disallowed for offside.

N’Golo Kante did pull one back for the Blues but it proved in vain as Liverpool extended their lead at the summit of the Premier League.

The two full-backs have gone from strength to strength in the last 12 months and Sutton tweeted his thoughts:

Whilst he praised Alexander-Arnold and Robertson, the former striker also believes Liverpool are currently showing enough to suggest they can end their long wait for a league title. He tweeted:

Liverpool have won their first six games in the Premier League and currently sit five points clear of last year’s winners, Manchester City.

Despite winning the Champions League last season, the ultimate crown as far as Liverpool fans are concerned is the Premier League title.

It goes without saying that Alexander-Arnold and Robertson will both be integral for Klopp’s team this season.

In Liverpool’s high-press style of play, the full-backs being able to get forward is ideal and keeping the in-form duo fit would enhance the club’s chances of laying claim to the title.
