Liverpool made hard work of beating Monterrey in the Club World Championship semi-final. Roberto Firmino’s goal in stoppage time ensured a win by the slenderest of margins.
The Reds opted to field a somewhat weakened team. Virgil van Dijk missed out through injury, whilst Firmino and Sadio Mane were left on the bench.
Naby Keita opened the scoring in Qatar. He latched onto a lovely through ball from Mo Salah and elegantly beat the goalkeeper.
Rogelio Funes Mori – twin brother of former Everton defender, Ramiro – equalised for the Mexican side just three minutes later.

With the game heading into stoppage time, Firmino struck and ensured Liverpool set up a Sunday final with Flamengo.
Following the game, several players took to Twitter, to sum up the performance and speak of their delight at reaching another final.

It thought the outcome was ‘nice’ and created a cheeky little hashtag which tipped his hat to the performance of Jordan Henderson who played at centre-back:

Liverpool will face a sterner test in Sunday’s final.
Flamengo romped to the Brazilian title in 2019, claiming success at the expense of Santos who finished with 16 points fewer than their rivals.
